Anyone care to interpret (or speculate) on the cryptic title of this airy and ethereal album cut? Occasionally misspelled as "Crescent Moon", Crescent and Noon are contradictory - Crescent referring to the moon, noon being the sun at it's peak.
I have my theories, but I'm interested to see how all you in Carpenter-land interpret. |

It was 1968 and the song was written by a couple of college students. I think that's the explanation. I don't think there's any great meaning to it -- it sounded clever, and the lyrics are obviously influenced by the psychedelic music of the era.
I imagine John Bettis was listening to a lot of Beatles, Jefferson Airplane, Mamas and the Papas, etc. The LSD-influenced lyrics by those artists often used incongruous visual images in an attempt to replicate an acid trip in music.

I always thought the sonic imagery in "Another Song" was far more intense.
