Most likely its because the song is rather monotonous, particularly in the later verses - also, with the BMB version being an instrumental, the "charm" of the lyrics are lost. I'm happy they did it the way they did it.

Also, when you think about it, there are only 6 verses of the song that mention animals. You have to include the "five golden rings" which is about the only chorus the song has...

Nice photo. Very scarce 45 and it looks very well taken care of. I have the parent LP in Stereo and it's superb.
