Saturday marks 29 years since her passing. You're missed, Karen. And Richard, you missed in action. Please come back...

Last night I was watching a clip of Karen on You Tube filmed in 1974 on tour in Holland, she looked and sounded amazing, she had a Jenifer Lopez figure, just looked incredible.
I think all fans are hoping that someday Richard will have a change of heart and release all the hidden treasures in his vault, it would be so easy with itunes for example, the technology is there, why not use it?

I hate to think back on this day, preferring to celebrate 03/02 instead. However, I cannot get through the day without a lump in my throat. Thank you KC and RC for all the great music and memories!!

Agree. I find it odd that media-types seem to like to "celebrate" death anniversaries like John Lennon, Elvis Presley, and yes, even Karen Carpenter. It's probably because the unfortunate event has happened within our collective active memories. Perhaps over time, future generations won't be "celebrating" these dates, but choose the actual birth dates instead?

Well, I wrote a tribute to Karen and the music she created with Richard. It's here.
I do think you are right, Harry. Profound dates are locked into our minds and hearts. I'll never forget the day and hearing the news of her death...

First thing I thought about this morning when having my first coffee and cigarette - will never forget this particular date in the calendar

On a brighter note, I am getting married on 31 August this year and we are having We've only just Begun played in church.

It's an sad day for the fans and an even sadder day for Richard and his family.

    RIP Karen, God Bless xx

    Nice tribute Mark :)

I pulled out my LP (while holding it up to the light to blow off any dust it reminded me it's a purple see thru LP), Voice of the Heart today and have been playing that and thinking wow it's been 29 years and I am still listening more than ever. Voice of the Heart brings back all the memories I had when I first heard the sad news, although the material is of different times, the album as a whole still puts me back in that time. I always feel closer to Karen when playing this album, call it sentimental yet it's real.
  10. For my tribute, I posted an article about her on my facebook, and changed by profile photo to one of hers, just for a day :)

Thanks, Chris. There was nobody with a voice like hers.

Great sentiments from everyone. She is gone, but not forgotten. I remember that day vividly, of course, and will never forget it. But, more importantly, we will have Karen's incredible voice with us forever.
  13. Amen. In that sense, she is truly immortal.
