A&M Audiophile Series Discography
Since no other website or discography book(s) has a truly accurate list of these LPs, I'm going to debut my informal list of A&M Audiophile LPs here until I can assemble the official discography page for them. I've had a couple of sources of information, including some from my own collection.
A&M Audiophile pressings were mastered at half-speed on virgin vinyl, pressed in Japan, and distributed through A&M Canada. The catalog numbers remain the same, except the "SP-" prefix is changed to "SPJ-". The label was a yellow/grey/red variation of the white/silver/tan A&M label of the 70's.
Based on the samples I have, these audiophile LPs are among the best sounding versions of these albums available on vinyl. A couple of these overlap releases on other audiophile labels. For instance, Supertramp's Crime Of The Century was one of Mobile Fidelity's first releases. I have not compared the two pressings as of yet, but I would suspect they are very similar. The other A&Ms I have appear to be flat transfers from the master tapes.
